  • Responding to and predicting the needs of a Ministerial office can be deeply worrying for APS staff at all levels. Expectations held by Ministerial staff are high, particularly for the quality and timeliness of information and opinion you provide. Mobility of Ministerial advisers and APS officers adds to the sense of uncertainty and anxiety held by both sides.

    This workshop reveals differences between the APS and a Minister’s Office in appraisals of timing, urgency, formality, detail and, as many would know, availability of service. Differences, often based in departmental culture and recent experiences with Ministers’ Offices, abound across the APS and need to be recognised. Yellow Edge brings to the workshop expertise from an experienced recent former Ministerial adviser to give real positive examples of what works.
